Frequently Asked Questions

Working with AFGH Handyman
Do you charge for estimates?
No — estimates are free. Ed will look at the job, talk through what you want, and give you a price before any work starts.
Who actually does the work?
Edrees “Ed” Ezzat does. AFGH Handyman is owner-operated, so the person who gives you the estimate is the person who does the job. That is the single most common theme across the reviews — customers deal with one person from start to finish.
Is there a minimum job size?
No. Small repairs are genuinely welcome. Many customers save up a handful of small jobs and have them all done in one visit, which is usually the most economical approach.
What areas do you serve?
Mead and Longmont are the core of the service area, along with Loveland, Johnstown, Firestone, Frederick, Berthoud, Milliken, Niwot, Platteville, Campion, Fort Lupton and Hudson. If you are just outside that list, call and ask.
Do you offer emergency or after-hours service?
No — AFGH Handyman works scheduled jobs Monday through Friday rather than emergency call-outs. Reviews do consistently describe Ed as quick to respond to enquiries and quotes.
Costs and estimates
How much does a handyman cost per hour?
It depends on the work involved and what the job needs in materials, so the honest answer is to get a free estimate rather than to quote an hourly figure that may not apply. Reviewers across Google and HomeAdvisor repeatedly describe the pricing as fair, honest and reasonable.
How much does a bathroom remodel cost?
The range is wide. Replacing a vanity and re-tiling a tub surround sits at one end; relocating plumbing to build a walk-in shower sits at the other. Finishes make a large difference too. A free estimate against your actual bathroom is worth far more than a national average.
How much does it cost to build a deck?
Size and material drive it. Composite decking such as Trex costs more up front than pressure-treated wood but needs much less maintenance afterwards — Ed can price both so you can compare properly.
How much does a kitchen remodel cost?
A backsplash and new countertops is a very different project from a full gut and rebuild with relocated plumbing. Scope, cabinetry and countertop material set the price.
Licensing, permits and practicalities
Does a handyman need a license in Colorado?
Colorado does not issue a statewide general handyman licence. Requirements are set at city and county level, and specialised trades — electrical and plumbing in particular — have their own state licensing. If a job needs a licensed trade or a permit, Ed will tell you that up front rather than work around it.
What permits do I need for a room addition?
Additions and basement finishes almost always require permits, and the rules differ between Weld County, Boulder County and each individual town. Ed will go through what your project and your jurisdiction require before work begins.
Basement remodel or home addition — which adds more value?
Finishing a basement is usually the cheaper route to more living space, because the structure and roof already exist. An addition costs more but adds footprint, and suits houses with no basement to convert. Which makes sense depends on your house, your lot and your budget.
Will you clean up afterwards?
Yes, and it is one of the things reviewers mention most often — floors masked and covered, and the space left tidy at the end of each day rather than only at the end of the job.
